Whenever a commentator – especially a politician – begins to wax lyrical about cutting immigration for economic reasons, I become sceptical. One must assume they’d be all in favour of giving the country away provided the process was profitable. On the other hand, they are likely too cowardly to openly discuss the real reasons for their scepticism out of fear of being called names.
