Anyone who thinks the Tony Abbott is the worst recurring nightmare to a new leader should take a look stateside. It’s not just bitter Hillary Clinton running around throwing daggers at Trump’s back, former President Obama’s been at it too.
Last week he gave a bizarre speech to 200 students at the African Leadership Academy and took the opportunity to bitch about men. Who wants to tell him that misandry is no better than racism? Who wants to take him aside and say, “Do you know what, your comments really aren’t helpful”?
He said, “Women in particular, by the way, I want you to get more involved. Because men have been getting on my nerves lately.”
“Every day I read the newspaper, and I just think, brothers, what’s wrong with you guys? What’s wrong with us? I mean, we’re violent, we’re bullying. You know, just not handling our business.”
Perhaps he would like to have a chat with Emma Husar MP who reportedly used taxpayer money to fund Labor staffers running her errands, do dishes and pick up her dog mess?
Obama continued, “So I think empowering more women on the continent… that right away is going to lead to some better policies.”
Maybe some would like to steer him towards the female CEOs who came a cropper in the banking royal commission? And while you have his ear, mention that it’s not more acceptable to say that women can magically fix the world than to say that white men should hold all the power. Show him the definition of true equality, pronto.
The former president also spoke at a lecture calling for greater global wealth redistribution. He opened by describing today’s times as “strange and uncertain”. If he’s talking about his own comments – he’s spot on.
