Kinsey and Hef

A couple of weeks ago, the human face of the modern sexual revolution, Hugh Hefner died in the Playboy mansion in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, at the age of 91. Although Hefner seemed to be the front man of this movement, actually the person in the vanguard of America’s sexual awakening was the academic, Alfred Kinsey. Hefner was nothing more than Kinsey’s pamphleteer and publicist. He was, in effect the ‘great evangelist’ for Kinsey’s radical moral revisionism.

The effect of this vast re-drawing of American sexual behaviour has been as damaging as it has been far-reaching. Perhaps no other movement in the 20th century has had such a calamitous effect on the delicate moral and social fabric of the West. Kinsey and Hefner effectively rent it asunder.

In the editorial of Playboy’s inaugural issue, Hefner expressed his personal debt to Kinsey writing: “If you are a man between 18 and 80, Playboy is for you… we believe… we are filling a publishing need only slightly less important than the one taken care of by the Kinsey report.”

For those not familiar with Kinsey’s ‘sheer mass of statistics,’ it’s worth looking at just one. Fifty per cent of men — farm boys, he alleged — had engaged in sex with an animal.

If that claim seems particularly shocking (or, at least, statistically questionable), it’s worth remembering that Kinsey–the trained zoologist, whose expertise was on the mating practices of the gall wasp–argued that while it was not necessarily natural, sex with an animal was not immoral, and was in fact, normal. As Kinsey states:

There are histories of farm-bred males who have risen to positions of importance in the business, academic, or political world in some large urban centre, and who have lived for years in constant fear that their early histories will be discovered. The clinician who can reassure these individuals that such activities are biologically and psychologically part of the normal mammalian picture, and that such contacts occur in as high percentage of the farm population as we have already indicated, may contribute materially toward the resolution of these conflicts.

An even more disturbing finding in Kinsey’s ‘research’ was that of the 4,441 female children he and his associates interviewed, who had had a sexual encounter with an adult, apparently only one of them experienced physical harm. As Kinsey states:

There are, of course, instances of adults who have done physical damage to children with whom they have attempted sexual contacts, and we have the histories of a few males who had been responsible for such damage. But these cases are in the minority, and the public should learn to distinguish such serious contacts from other adult contacts which are not likely to do the child any appreciable harm if the child’s parents do not become disturbed…among the 4,441 females on whom we have data, we have only one clear-cut case of serious injury done to the child, and a very few instances of vaginal bleeding which, however, did not appear to do any appreciable damage.

By far the greatest scandal was Kinsey’s data involving the erotic arousal to orgasm of pre-adolescent children, with some less than a year old. In a scene, reminiscent of Huxley’s “Erotic Play Centre” for children in Brave New World, Kinsey systematically engaged in what any sane person today would consider rampant paedophilia.

Judith Reisman, in her book Sexual Sabotage, notes that “Cartoons urging sex with children appeared in Playboy in a systematic manner from 1954 to 1984!” Reisman worked as the Principal Investigator for the U.S. Department of Justice. In her official government study, she said she had identified, “Playboy with 1,196 cartoons of children, most of them sexualized, and with 1,849 visuals of children under eighteen, also usually sexualised by implication or association with the “centrefold” photo and other techniques.”

While many conservatives are focusing on the insidious effect of Cultural Marxism in the West, could it be that the more dangerous enemy is the toxic fruit of our own sexual revolution, in particular, the pornographic free-for-all that Kinsey and his shameless proselytizer, Hefner, have promoted in our society?

By rejecting our Judeo-Christian heritage and embracing the pseudo-scientific eroticism of Kinsey and Hefner, we are effectively destroying ourselves as individuals, as families, and as a broader community. As Malcolm Muggeridge put it so eloquently;

Whereas other civilisations have been brought down by attacks of barbarians from without, ours had the unique distinction of training its own destroyers at its own educational institutions…Thus, did Western Man decide to abolish himself, creating his own boredom out of his own affluence, his own vulnerability out of his own strength, his own impotence out of his own erotomania, himself blowing the trumpet that brought the walls of his own city tumbling down.
