“When John Howard took to the stage at the National Press Club some days ago …” The Age’s editorial begins today. Some days ago? Some? The former prime minister spoke not last week, but the week before, on September 7.

Back to the editorial. Naturally, they don’t like what he had to say down at the Spencer Street Soviet. But to wait almost a fortnight to condemn it?


It’s generally regarded that The Age has abandoned any idea of being a serious newspaper. Now they appear to be dumping the “news” part as well. The “paper” bit is expected to go at any time — go on weekdays, anyway — leaving them free to concentrate on clickbait such as this, also from today:
