How agriculture doomed the proposed EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement

As reported widely, Australia has walked away from concluding a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union (EU). Australia’s Trade Minister, Don Farrell, rejected a free trade deal worth $100 billion with the EU because of disagreements about access for Australian agricultural products to the European market along with EU demands to rename locally grown products to protect geographical indicators.
