A few things immediately sprang to my mind this morning as I awoke to my city surrounded by rings of steel. Melbourne is now the new East Berlin. And I recalled the famous speech US President Ronald Reagan gave on June 12, 1987 at the Brandenburg Gate near the Berlin Wall to commemorate the city’s 750th anniversary.
