Nobody is above the law in the United States – except a million or so illegal immigrants

Watching the Democrats haul their impeachment caravan across Washington these past days I was struck by the punctuation marks in all their righteous utterances. “Nobody is above the law” the Democrats all intoned.

They were referring, of course, to the President. Donald Trump is not above the law.

Nobody seemed to notice the million or more illegal immigrants who had managed to breach the Mexico-US border in the past year alone, many of whom would be seeking shelter in what their civic leaders charmingly and misleadingly call “sanctuary cities”. Sanctuary from the law, with welfare benefits to boot.

They are certainly deemed by most Democrats to be above the law, but “that’s different” I guess. They are not Trump.

I was hoping that some smartass in the impeachment hearing context would interject after each declaration that “nobody is above the law”, something such as “except those million illegal migrants we are keeping safe”.
