The World Cup football match between Australia and Peru was played in Doha in June of this year. Australian coach, Graham Arnold, realised that the game, already in extra time and with little possibility of a goal, could be headed for a penalty kick shootout (shootout). Accordingly, he sent substitute goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne onto the field just before the end of extra time, believing that Redmayne possessed the skills to win the shootout.
