So the Greens have heard of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Good for them.
What they don’t appear to have heard, however, is how the pair — and others like them — have pushed their party so far to the loony left a Donald Trump victory is almost certain come November.
The Greens have form on this sort of thing. They decided to be purer than purer and vote down Kevin Rudd’s emissions trading scheme more than a decade ago because it didn’t go far enough.
Thanks to Green extremism then, the nation dodged a bullet. And thanks to Green extremism now, it looks as we’ll face a fully-fledged attempt by the Watermelon King and his ragtag band to push our politics out into Bernie and AOC territory.
The strains on Labor, and the Labor leader, given his inner-city Sydney seat, will be immense.
And just like Donald Trump has been the big winner from the Democrats’ extremism, the big winner here will be one ScoMo.
He must love having the Greens on his side.
