Full disclosure, I have been a huge Pauline Hanson fan for decades, and yes, even fuller disclosure, a Donald Trump fan from the start.
One has nothing to do with the other, not really, except to say they are both adherents to common sense and logic. They also have enormous love of country and a passion to make their respective countries the very best they can be for all citizens.
I am not looking to compare them any further, as this discussion is about Pauline Hanson and movement. For those who are not yet fans, allow me to explain why I am so exuberant about this meteoric rise of One Nation at this moment in history.
Pauline has been in politics for 30 years, and in all that time she has upheld the same beliefs and principles.
She has never back flipped or changed her core beliefs, but she has become better at expressing them. She is not the perfect wordsmith and yet I understood her message from the start, even when the media attempted to twist her words and throw slurs not only at her principles, but also her background, family, and education.
Pauline has never been a racist. She has always been a proponent of Australian values and welcomed immigration from every corner of the world. Her only request was that it be in a sensible and orderly fashion that would not only complement but benefit the existing citizens of Australia.
How many other politicians can you name who have beliefs that have not only endured but strengthened over so many years? Common sense beliefs so many of us also hold dear…
The sheer brilliance of creating an animated series that simplified the political issues of the day by incorporating humour and connecting with the disaffected electorate also played a huge part in the grassroots popularity of One Nation.
Please Explain! is a series so popular that One Nation released a feature-length film that we paid to see.
People of all ages realised that One Nation did, in fact, understand what was happening and stopped accepting the platitudes and gaslighting they were hearing from their politicians in the media. Currently, it is manifesting in the seed of realisation that elected politicians may be the cause of the problems faced by the nation.
Then there are the simply stated policies that Pauline said out loud and put up on her website. Policies so many of us agree with but have been intimidated into not saying out loud.
Net Zero was not only detrimental to Australia, but the idiocy with which it was allowed to take over the country still can’t be explained. How is it possible to shut down our primary energy source and sell our limited raw materials overseas without first realising the success of these newfound renewables? Whose brilliant plan was that? Especially because we could clearly see the detrimental effects renewables were having in Europe. And we were all supposed to nod along because they labelled it ‘science’.
No matter where you stand on immigration as to how it relates to Australian population, there is no doubt we have encouraged the creep of radical Islam to take over the great Australian values we love and cherish. Islamic extremists feel comfortable enough to not only bomb synagogues and daycare centres, but to carry out massacres in our midst. Very few hate preachers have been charged or deported. Questions about the rhetoric of some protesters have been raised but never answered.
And then we have the social unrest of weekly demonstrations for foreign nations and foreign causes that have turned our major cities into no-go zones for ordinary Australians on weekends. Why have these been allowed to perpetuate?
There are also genuine complaints to be made about the symbolism and imposition of large Muslim prayer groups that close streets or infringe upon shared spaces in a way other communities are prohibited from doing.
Pauline was the only politician brave enough to warn us loudly, by wearing the burqa into Parliament. The short-sighted and ignorant members of our Parliament punished her for it.
Pauline’s real brilliance is in how she is building her party. Everyone in her party, past, present, and emerging, believes in her goals for Australia. She will not be restrained by left, right, or middle factions like the current Liberal and National parties. One Nation is being built by ordinary Australians who want a better future for our country and are clear on what that requires.
Just as Pauline was a regular Australian with struggles in her past, (yes, she proudly owned a fish and chip shop), she is opening Australian politics to others like herself.
Unlike the undeserving politicians of the past, who mocked and tried to belittle her because of her real-world experience, it is my understanding Pauline is recruiting her party from smart, passionate Australians who have never participated in politics before. Many people in upcoming elections representing One Nation on the ballot will be first-time political hopefuls.
It is also great to have experienced team members Barnaby Joyce and Cory Bernardi.
One Nation has been trained and nurtured by a woman who learned the hard way by forging the path for a new and powerful reform in Australian politics. Unlike the clowns we currently have in government, I look forward to leadership that has the best interests of Australia and Australians at the forefront of their reason to get up every morning. Congratulations, Pauline Hanson!
