The News Agents podcast has had a mixed reception in the UK but its presenters are having an even rougher ride in the US. Host Emily Maitlis ambushed Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence on ‘Super Tuesday’ to get her reaction to Trump’s victory.
Asking first about the Republican party’s message for Trump’s competitor Nikki Haley, Maitlis swiftly moved on to a fiery line of questioning. She asked why ‘so many people who support Trump love conspiracy theories’, using as an example Greene’s own comments that the 2018 Camp Fire was started by ‘Jewish space lasers’. Suffice to say this didn’t exactly go down well.
A raging Greene fumed that Republicans ‘like the truth’, accused Maitlis herself of ‘spreading conspiracy theories’. She concluded their rather testy interaction by telling her to ‘go f*** off’. Charming…
It’s not the first time Greene’s mouthing off has hit the headlines. Just weeks ago, the Trump supporter expressed her disdain for David Cameron’s calls for more US funding for Ukraine. Hacked off at the foreign secretary’s comments, Greene told an interviewer: ‘(Cameron) needs to worry about his own country, and frankly, he can kiss my ass.’
You can watch Maitlis interviewing Greene here:
“Emily, you’re a conspiracy theorist… We like the truth.”
Why did Marjorie Taylor Greene tell @maitlis to fuck off? ?
