Roe vs. Wade: Democrats can only blame themselves

The American Democrats have only themselves to blame when it comes to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade.

If it had not been for the extreme and unpalatable push for late-term abortion (up to birth and including leaving children born alive to die), the issue would likely have remained closed as it has in most Western countries.

Democrats have a habit of pushing difficult and contentious issues to the extreme – picking at society’s most dangerous wounds in the hope that a bit of outrage and media coverage will gift them power and fame. It is done at the expense of social cohesion.

There are many topics within a society where absolute agreement is impossible to achieve, especially with issues such as abortion which have remained split for thousands of years and include irreconcilable differences within opposing religious groups.

Finding a midway point that society at large can tolerate is difficult, but most countries in the West have managed it even with their multicultural demographics. Instead of leaving the issue to sit, the Democrats decided to make it a feature of their Culture War push.

This is bizarre in and of itself, given this is the same political party that has spent the last ten years dismantling the rights of women through its dogged pursuit of trans and radical gender activism. It is very difficult to argue for ‘women’s right to abortion’ when Democrats can’t bring themselves to define the basics of what a woman actually is. Can men have abortions? Yes, according to the Left.

The removal of language to describe women and mothers from both society and the medical industry poses a threat to the wellbeing of mothers who are now referred to as ‘chest-feeders’, ‘breeders’, and ‘bleeders’.

Women are forced to share their private spaces such as bathrooms and change-rooms with naked adult men and if they complain about feeling unsafe, women are the ones who are thrown out or scorned. Little girls are not even safe in schools with adult men in sexualised costumes invited to read material that further devalues the sanctity of their gender.

While there has been a small victory for sanity when it comes to gender-segregated sport, for many years women and girls have been pushed off the podium by men or had their records erased. This erasure of achievement continues into the political and social sphere. When Dr Rachel Levine (formally Richard Levine) gave a speech stating, ‘I am humbled to serve as the first female four-star officer of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps,’ feminists everywhere did a double-take. Levine was then named ‘Woman of the year’ by USA Today. It’s nothing new. Caitlyn Jenner (formally Bruce Jenner) won Glamour magazine’s 2015 Woman of the Year award.

Leaving aside the treatment of women by Democrats, the Left-wing media have another problem. You cannot run around shouting ‘my body my choice’ today after spending two years shouting ‘get vaxxed or we’ll lock you in hour home and take away your rights’.

America has to decide whether it truly believes in medical autonomy and the Democrats have to realise that taking extreme positions on everything endangers the complex structure of legal compromises that keeps America ‘free’.

For now, Roe vs. Wade has been overturned and abortion rights are being handed back to each State and its voters. Some of these States have ‘trigger laws’ which have come into immediate effect, significantly restricting abortion rights. Others have been marked as ‘likely’ to work on new laws now that the Constitutional protection has been lifted. Blue States are unlikely to change and may find themselves picking up the slack from women leaving Red States.

The one thing we know for sure is that it is going to stir the culture pot and force ordinary people to re-enter the Culture Wars and make a decision at the ballot box, one way or another. This doesn’t bode well for Democrats who have been taking authoritarian, abusive, and extreme positions of late.
