To vax or not to vax?

We are being denied critical information

Mandatory vaccination has become a vexed, or a vaxxed, issue wherever it has been enforced. To vax or not to vax, that is the question. In New York, massive crowds gathered in front of the Department of Education last week as thousands of teachers lost their jobs after refusing to submit to the experimental jabs. They used expletives to express their anger at both the Democrat President and the Democrat governor of a state that is a Democrat stronghold.

The Left has been largely mute about the loss of liberties throughout the pandemic presumably because putting the collective interest ahead of the individual is a classic leftist trope. Dr Fauci said in late September that, ‘There comes a time when you do have to give up what you consider your individual right of making your own decision for the greater good of society’. The American Civil Liberties Union, no less, says it supports vaccine mandates.

Yet the silence of the Left is starting to worry its own. As former race discrimination commissioner Tim Soutphommasane put it, ‘At the moment, those most exercised about liberty have been libertarians and, most notably, those on the far right of the political spectrum. I am deeply alarmed at how much indifference there seems to be from the usual friends of human rights and civil liberties’.

Former New York Times writer and best-selling author Alex Berenson has been one of the few on the left in the US to speak out vociferously throughout the pandemic. For his efforts he was asked to stand down from the board of a charity he has worked with for decades that distributes restaurant food to the poor and he was the only member of PEN America, the organisation which defends ‘freedom to write’, who was censored this year and was not invited to its annual gala.

Undaunted by the ructions abroad, last week, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews decreed that anyone working for an authorised provider must be vaccinated. This is the broadest mandate issued so far in Australia. It includes an extraordinary assortment of people from those performing elective surgery in regional areas and volunteer emergency service providers to posties and pet groomers.

New South Wales has also enforced a mandate on authorised workers in local government areas of concern, and on key workers such as teachers and health and aged care workers but in court this week, lawyers for Health Minister Brad Hazzard, claimed that the workers do not face mandatory vaccination, the jabs are just a means of escaping some lockdown laws. This is specious sophistry that fools no-one. The workers are free to refuse the vaccine, but they will then lose their jobs. That is the nub of their protest.

As Deputy President of the Fair Work Commission Lyndall Dean wrote, in a dissenting judgement at a hearing of the full bench in late September, it is ‘not proportionate, reasonable or necessary to “lock out” those who are unvaccinated’ when much more effective means of ensuring a safe workplace exist such as testing workers to see whether they are infected or not’. Safe Work Australia has already said that most employers will not need to make vaccination mandatory to comply with model workplace health and safety laws.

The latest big data study of vaccine efficacy conducted by researchers at Oxford University bears out the futility of relying on vaccines to prevent the transmission of Covid in the workplace. The AstraZeneca vaccine declines in efficacy so rapidly that after 12 weeks a vaccinated person has the same likelihood of catching the Delta strain of Covid as an unvaccinated person, and although Pfizer provides higher levels of protection, it wanes faster so that at the end of three months it provides very attenuated benefit.

The government insists that the vaccines are safe but how is the public meant to know when the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has banned doctors from sharing any concerns they have, even with their patients, let alone on social media or any other media outlet. Worse, even though AHPRA admits that the primary concern of a doctor is their patients’ health, it also orders them to consider the health and wellbeing of ‘communities and broader populations’.

In an extraordinary overreach of its remit, AHPRA has declared that doctors who have expressed concerns publicly about the importance of early treatment, the reliability of PCR tests, the damage inflicted by lockdowns and adverse events following vaccinations are a risk to public health and should be suspended from using their medical qualifications either as doctors, in academia or in any other sphere.

Dr Paul Oosterhuis, a highly experienced anaesthetist, was the first practitioner to be suspended. Since then, Dr Robert Brennan has also lost the right to practice and at least two other doctors are being investigated. A pharmacist has also been criticised by the Pharmacy Board simply for filling legally written prescriptions for ivermectin.

Despite the tech giants ferocious censorship of social and mainstream media the truth is emerging. A group called Project Veritas secretly filmed a man identified as Pfizer senior associate scientist Chris Croce who stated that natural immunity was more robust than vaccine-acquired immunity and said ‘No one has the right to ask you if you’ve been vaccinated. It’s an invasion of privacy’ which violates the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and it was ‘disgusting’ that monoclonal antibody treatment, which famously helped former president Donald Trump get over Covid so quickly, had been ‘pushed to the side’ over ‘money’.

Another whistleblower handed over US government data to Thomas Renz, a lawyer who specialises in medical rights documenting 48,465 deaths within 14 days of Covid-19 vaccination among Medicare patients, who make up about 20 per cent of the US population. While not all would be vaccine-related, all should be investigated given how soon they followed vaccination.

The cruellest aspect of censorship is that it denies a human face to suffering. Jessica Berg Wilson was a 37-year-old who was coerced into vaccination to which she passionately objected by a mandate on mothers helping at school. When it triggered fatal thrombotic thrombocytopenia, Twitter had the gall to ‘fact-check’ her obituary and deem it ‘misleading’. In the face of an intense backlash, it removed the tag days later. It’s cold comfort for her heartbroken husband. He just wants the people setting the mandates to listen to his story.

Good luck with that.
