It’s been a big 24 hours or so for British media watchers with the release of the BBC’s annual report for 2019/2020, in which all pay over £150,000 is listed.
Nothing like this, though, can be found in the ABC annual report.
The ABC, like the other major media outlets in this country, is a member of the Your Right to Know coalition.
It’s also, of course, a public statutory corporation, funded by you and me, the taxpayer.
The ABC is very keen on demanding accountability from others, giving succour to the #auspolsocorrupt ratbag brigade, yet refuses to display basic accountability itself — let alone the additional accountability democracy demands of bodies funded from the public purse.
In other words, its culture and credibility are fundamentally flawed.
It deserves to be taken as seriously as a chief economics correspondent who doesn’t know the difference between income and profit.
