Details remain unconfirmed, but what we know for certain is that Australia will never be the same after this.
Bondi Beach will forever be associated with the worst mass shooting since the Port Arthur massacre. A place where civilisational innocence met the wrath of unrelenting religious hatred.
What did people think ‘globalise the intifada’ meant?
Eleven people are dead. And no, we will not include the gunman’s death in that figure as other publications have done. They are not a victim but a perpetrator. The other gunman is in custody. Twenty-nine people have been injured, including police officers. Their names have not been released.
The terror attack began when two large men opened fire, shooting at least 50 rounds into the crowd.
Naveed Akram from Bonnyrigg has been identified by the ABC as one of the shooters after a copy of their licence was posted on social media. This was later confirmed by authorities.
Over 2,000 people had gathered to celebrate the Jewish Chanukah event.
Both authorities and the NSW Premier, Chris Minns, have confirmed that the Jewish community was targeted.

In addition to the shooting, police have confirmed that IED devices were located and removed from cars belonging to the shooters, indicating that this terror event was intended to escalate even further.
Video footage, shot by people at the scene, show the shooting underway.
The men were wearing black, one with white pants. Both were wearing belts with additional ammunition for their weapons and there was at least one backpack seen on the ground near where they were arrested.
There is video footage of a long period of time where the men were taking calculated shots at the terrified crowd. These were calm, deliberate shots, picking off beachgoers.

One witness spoke of his horror that, for what felt to him like 20 minutes, the police did nothing as the gunmen continued to reload.
‘For 20 minutes they shoot. Shoot. Change their magazine and just shoot. Simple as that. 20 minutes with four policemen there. Nobody give fire back. Nothing. Like they are frozen.’
He observed that they shot at men, women, and children.

Footage (we will not show) filmed from the park area reveals deceased victims and seriously injured people strewn over the ground being attended to by emergency workers and other civilians.
In some footage, people did not believe the shooting was happening. They asked if people were running from a shark. Buses caught on the street asked their occupants to crouch or hide away from the windows. Everyone outside ran to safety.
Details have not yet been confirmed about how the shooters were apprehended, but there is footage of the first gunman being tackled by a Good Samaritan in a white shirt who snuck up behind them, using parked cars as cover.
Branded a hero, he has been identified as Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old fruit shop owner from Sutherland. Reports indicate he was shot twice while taking down one of the gunmen and is now in hospital.
Ahmed managed to take the shotgun and point it at the gunman, giving another person time to run to his aid. It is believed this second man was also shot by the gunman on the bridge.
One of the gunmen was then killed by police.
Be aware, the video below contains strong language and features the shooting of the gunmen by police.

Below, we have used a clip that has been cut to remove footage of the victim lying next to a parked car. In the extended footage, people begin to throw objects at the disarmed gunman while the second gunman takes shots at them from a covered position on the bridge nearby.
Wow this is extraordinary.
An Aussie hero tackles one of the terrorists in the middle of the Bondi Beach attack and wrestles away his gun.
He clearly saved many lives.
There is always hope.

Later, footage emerged of the two shooters on the ground surrounded by police.
You can hear one person say, ‘He’s hit! He’s hit!’ possibly referring to the gunman on the ground who was already dead.
Another man comes over and tries to stomp on one of the gunmen, clearly in anger, but is pulled away.
‘F-ing bash him!’ is heard being shouted.
The two shooters in the mass shooting, reportedly at a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia, have been arrested.

Bondi Beach was also playing host to Christmas markets at the time of the attack.
Footage on TikTok shows the home of one suspect being raided earlier in the evening.
It will surprise no one to learn that one of the shooters was ‘known to ASIO’ but not seen as an ‘immediate threat’.
ASIO chief Mike Burgess said that ‘one of these individuals was known to us, but not in an immediate-threat perspective, so we need to look into what happened here’.
Burgess added: ‘We’re looking to see if there are anyone in the community that has similar intent.’
Some members of the Jewish community are calling on the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Immigration Minister to resign over the escalation of antisemitism.
