Visiting Canada, I could not fail but note the absence of any significant campaign to replace the Canadian Crown with a politicians’ republic. Are they deterred by the example of their neighbour? But such is the integration of the monarchy that Canadians do not have Royal Visits; they are ‘homecomings’.
