This is an appeal to Speccie readers to join a modest campaign to ban the use of ‘begs the question’. Why? Because no one uses this correctly. Ever. No one (it seems) understands what it means. ‘Begs the question’ is the name of the logical fallacy of assuming the conclusion of your argument is true in one or more of the statements you start with.
