Tributes are flowing in following the horrific assassination of Turning Point founder and CEO Charlie Kirk.

Considered a once-in-a-generation talent, he devoted his life to fostering political conversation and the education of young minds.

He was shot and killed on campus at the Utah Valley University, September 10, engaging in his The American Comeback Tour.

He survived by his wife and two children.

FBI Director Kash Patel has confirmed, a short time ago, that a suspect is in custody. It follows footage being released of a gunman running across a rooftop near the event.

Charlie Kirk briefly survived his injury and was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Turning Point has released the following statement:

The news was first officially confirmed by President Donald Trump on Truth Social. Originally the President posted news of the shooting, calling for prayers, but later posted this:

Since then, conservative leaders and political figures around the world, many of whom were personal friends, have offered their condolences.

For its part, MSNBC has succumbed to massive public pressure to apologise following its early comments about the shooting.

‘During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive, and unacceptable. We apologise for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise.’

The distasteful comments included a bizarre accusation that a supporter might have accidentally done it.

Charlie Kirk is an enormous loss, not only to conservative politics, but to the world.
