Israel is fighting a war for the survival of the West

The Americans, the Europeans, Penny Wong, and everyone else is outraged. Again.

Those pesky – sorry – genocidal Jews have killed innocents. According to Hamas, there were 90 killed in a school. Or were there 40? 45? Hamas continues to revise the numbers of the alleged victims. Regardless, if Hamas says something is true then, as day follows night, they might be right.

If the impeccable United Nations says that Israel is ‘genociding’ (a new word) then it must be. Amongst the confected outrage, I have an observation…

Israel says it has identified 19 terrorists, shown pictures of them, and reported that they were eliminated in the strike.

The strike was targeted. According to the IDF, there were no women or children present.

Instead of accepting Israel’s figures and narrative, the world has immediately condemned Israel and accepted, unquestioningly, Hamas’ version of events.

There is no reality in which what Hamas says is true.

Hamas does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. This means any figures wheeled out by them are ab initio unreliable. Further, their figures, such as they are, have been repeatedly proven to be false and unreliable.

Again, we have calls for a ‘ceasefire now’.

Again, no one seems to care that Israelis in the North have been subjected to endless rocket attacks since October. That over 80,000 have been evacuated to the centre and that there are still rocket attacks being launched from Gaza…

Where is the concern for the hostages and how this war actually started?

The IDF keep on finding tunnels and munitions in UNRWA schools, under children’s beds, and in mosques.

Does anyone care?

The short answer is that no one cares.

It is much easier to relentlessly blame Israel and look away when the truth is revealed. The incompetent and limpid governments of the West – full of an appeasement that would make Chamberlain blush – have lost their morality and their spines.

One can only guess what would have happened during the second world war with this mindset. Would there have been endless calls for a ceasefire with Hitler?

Going on this insipid stance of the West today, my guess is ‘yes’.

As Douglas Murray has so eloquently stated, Israel is never allowed to win. A decisive victory is what is needed to end this current situation.

On Monday night and Tuesday, the Jewish people commemorate Tisha B’Av – the 9th day of Av. It is one of the two major fast days where there is no eating or drinking for a little over 24 hours. It is a solemn day – a sad day – as it is in remembrance of various calamities that befell the Jewish people on that date. They include the destruction of both temples, in the year 586 BCE and 70 CE (and to those who assert that the Jews have no connection to the land of Israel, take note, the Jewish people were not parachuted in after 1948 but instead have a history dating back 3,000 years); the expulsion of the Jews from England, Spain, and France; the approval of the Final Solution; and the beginning of the deportations from the Warsaw ghetto to Treblinka.

This year will have a special significance, being the first Tisha B’Av since the October 7 pogrom in Israel.

It is sometimes hard to identify with these commemorations, given that so many of the events to which they refer occurred so very long ago. But this year is different. This year, we were reminded at Passover that the words from the Seder ‘that in every generation they rise up to kill us’ aren’t just something from an old text, but rather identify a reality that is as apt today as it was in each previous generation.

Our Jewish ancestors knew, or understood, that their time in the Diaspora was temporary and that in each country a time would come when the Jewish people would be forced to leave due to untenable antisemitism and subsequent discrimination.

Watching what is going on in the West has opened our eyes to this in ways that reading history never could. The fantasy of multiculturalism has proven to be just that – a fantasy.

We have been informed by the Albanese government last week that a terror attack is ‘probable’. I would suggest this is directly attributable to the Australian government’s duck-and-weave statements and inaction in respect to the demonstrations, tent-ifadas, and other actions taken by pro-Palestinian mobs.

Had the government made it that the appalling actions of some were not to be tolerated in our supposed ‘one and free’ society, they might have been nipped in the bud. However, the government’s stance has been one of overarching appeasement.

Hence the rampaging mobs go forth unhindered.

Hence the rise in unfettered ‘free’ speech which is hate-filled and hate-driven.

When it comes to Penny Wong’s feeble support of Israel and even feebler condemnation of the exponential rise in antisemitism, one is neither shocked nor surprised.

We have hate-filled speeches coming from Muslim leaders and university students calling for an end to the State of Israel. The Ambassador of Iran penned a Tweet that called for the dismantling and destruction of the State of Israel.

‘There have been a number of forecasts on the short lifespan of the occupying and genocide [Israeli] regime and in some of them, even pinpointing a date for such a desirable happening … here, we go with another brilliant prospect in this respect. Due to the blessing of the faith in Islam and belief in the verses of the Holy Quran, #Sheik_Ahmed_Yasin rectified wiping out the Zionist plague out of the Holy Lands of Palestine no later than 2027. Looking forward to such a heavenly and divine promise Inshaa-Allah.’ #Long_Live_Resistance #FreePalestine’ – Ahmad Sadeghi

While Penny Wong called the comments ‘inflammatory’ and ‘repugnant’, in the end the government issued a wet slap over the wrist.

By contrast, Israel’s Ambassador has been hauled in for a dressing down at the Ministerial level for yet another lecture about restraint.

In the meantime, Iran is waging psychological warfare on Israel and Hezbollah continues to fire missiles and rockets into Israel’s north.

On Monday night, we read in the book of Lamentations about the destruction of Jerusalem – the starvation and the horrors – and as I was reading, my thoughts turned to today. I wonder, as I often have over the last 10 months, whether the time for Jews here in Australia is over. I wonder if our welcome has run its course, as it did in so many other places before. And I wonder whether the bubble of multiculturalism has finally burst.

Multiculturalism is a great idea betrayed by reality.

I also wonder whether any of the hate-filled Hamas-supporting mobs, propped up by the weaselling appeasing West, are any different from those who supported the Einsatzgruppen who rampaged through Eastern Europe in 1941, or the Crusaders in the 13th Century.

The answer is no, they are not.

I would like to believe that some see that Israel is fighting a just war, not only for its own survival, but also for the survival of the West. I would like to believe but the history of the last 3,000 years has made me an unbeliever in the ability of others to see what is front of their eyes.

I hope I am wrong.
