LinkedIn has just put another nail of the coffin of meritocracy by adding a new function which the company boasts will allow demographic information to be used by recruiters to find a more “diverse group of qualified candidates.” Meanwhile, it claims that jobseekers will be able to highlight their race, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation in order to increase their chances of getting a job.
In less jargonistic speak, the boffins at LinkedIn have deliberately designed a function that will ensure that white, male, heterosexuals won’t find employment. They have basically added a racist/sexist button.
What is more, this function will most likely be used by recruiters because of the diversity requirements being imposed on companies. By eliminating the offending group from the search results at the very beginning of the recruitment process, they’ll save time and money.
That this has happened at LinkedIn is hardly surprising. In 2021, it hired professional race baiter, Robin D’Angelo, to run a series of diversity training workshops in which attendees were told that they needed to be ‘less white’.
In his own profile CEO, Ryan Rolansky has proudly added a Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging for All certificate which apparently took him 6hrs and 16 mins to complete. That’s an awful lot of diversity and inclusion. In a recent interview, Rolansky was quoted saying that “LinkedIn is a platform that exists to create opportunity for every member of the global workforce.” Every member of the workforce that is, except the straight white male.
