A couple of years ago at The Spectatorsummer party I realised I was standing close to the British prime minister. He was backlit by the dipping sun in a way that gave him a golden aura. Looking at him surreptitiously, I noticed he was frowning appreciatively while squinting momentarily through the gathering dusk at my wife’s bottom.
