We believe it’s important SpecOz readers are across events and fully informed.

Most of you would have heard how a male baboon — and its two significant others — escaped from Sydney’s Prince Alfred Hospital ahead of a scheduled vasectomy on Tuesday. The follow-up, however, hasn’t had the attention it deserves.

The local state Greens MP, Jenny Leong, first laughed:

Her comrades in the constituency, however, took it all very seriously indeed. Leong grovelled for her lack of sensitivity — and arranged a baboon benefit for this coming Friday:


The Greens are taking this all very seriously indeed. And so, thanks to Leong’s NSW Senate colleague Mehreen Faruqi — clearly determined not to be outdone — the Senate Notice Paper now contains this important item:

“Wishes the baboons well.” Isn’t that sweet?

Your taxes at work.
