Do you remember Eric the Eel, Eric Moussambani, from Equatorial Guinea? He participated in the Sydney Olympics, entering the 100-metre freestyle event. He was given a wild card entry due to his country’s lack of sporting facilities and other disadvantages.

He had only started swimming eight months before the big competition.
