You hear plenty of strange things when you work in retail, but I can’t forget the afternoon I received an astonishingly calm call from a shop manager in Cairns. The flood-prone city was under water. Again. The aftermath of another tropical cyclone had left the place looking like a lagoon or one of those floating Asian cities.
