How much alcohol is (officially) consumed in Qatar? The average Qatari consumes 0.96 litres of alcohol per year, giving it the 151st consumption of any country. Top is the Cook Islands on 12.97 litres, while the UK ranks 24th with 9.8 litres. Some countries where it might be harder to get a beer (estimated alcohol consumption in 2019):

Abortion rates

There were 214,869 abortions in England and Wales in 2021, a record number.

– The abortion rate was 18.6 per 1,000 women aged 15-44, just under double the prevailing rate in the 1970s. However, the rate among under-18s is falling, down from 15.0 to 6.4 per 1,000 between 2011 and 2021. By contrast, the rate among 30- to 34-year-olds has risen from 17.2 to 22.1 per 1,000 over the same period.

– The most common age at which to have an abortion in 2021 was 22, with a rate of 31 per 1,000.

– Some 89% of abortions in 2021 were in the first ten weeks of pregnancy.
