Could the Kenyan mall atrocities happen here?

James Delingpole on BBC2's Terror at the Mall, one of the most gripping and important pieces of TV any of us are likely to see this year

So you’ve just popped down to the supermarket for the weekly shop, toddlers in tow, when the grenades start to fly, the air lights up with tracer bullets and you realise to your horror that unless you find a suitable hiding place in a matter of seconds these are the last moments you’ll spend with your kids on earth.

This was the awful crisis that faced Amber Prior and her children, who were among the numerous innocents caught up in the al-Shabaab suicide attack on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, last year. Their tale was told in the BBC2 documentary Terror at the Mall, and I make no apologies for reviewing it late because it is surely one of the most gripping and important pieces of television any of us are likely to see this year.

What made it so remarkable is that it’s the first major terrorist atrocity to have been caught in detail on camera from the beginning almost to the very end. Yes of course, parts of 9/11 were televised too. But we only saw the view from outside. The Westgate mall attack, on the other hand, owing to the nature of its location, was captured from numerous different angles on the closed-circuit TV cameras dotted all over the interior. As various eye witnesses recalled what had happened, we were shown the footage with an arrow helpfully pointing out who was who.

6926511-low_res-

It began with a scene we can all identify with: shoppers wandering distractedly up and down the aisles, probably thinking about tonight’s supper and whether there’s anything they left off the list; shoppers peering into the windows of various mall retail outlets; shoppers rewarding themselves with a breather in sundry pleasant outdoor cafés.

Then suddenly all hell breaks loose in one of the cafés: people leaping headlong through the air; people diving; people crawling, some of them very clearly injured by the blast of the first grenades — among them a beautiful South Korean woman called Moon Hee Kang, who seconds earlier had been enjoying a hamburger in the Kenyan sun with her British husband Niall.

Meanwhile, in the supermarket, quotidian normality turns in an instant to desperate panic. Everyone’s running — they’ve all heard the explosions and the gunfire — but where to go? The only obvious escape route is back through the entrance, where the gunmen are. And there’s nowhere to hide in the aisles because it’s all open plan. Behind one of the counters, maybe? The meat counter? But if they spot you there you’ll be trapped and …too late: they’re spraying the supermarket and all around you people are going down, with an awful, unforgettable deep twhocking noise as the bullets smack into their flesh.

How would any of us have fared in the same situation? Hopefully not as uselessly as the Kenyan police and military, who lingered outside the mall, cowering and prevaricating, while the gunmen — just four of them — went coolly about their business, murdering 67 people and wounding 175 more. When eventually the police and army did go in, they ended up shooting one another — before retreating in disarray. Moral: if you find yourself embroiled in a situation like this in a country like Kenya, don’t bank on the authorities coming to rescue you before it’s too late.

The last victim — to the security services’ eternal shame — was shot more than three hours after the killers first started firing. But the death toll would undoubtedly have been higher had it not been for a small group of plain-clothes policemen and have-a-go civilians such as Somali–Kenyan businessman Abdul Haji and Reuters photographer Goran Tomasevic, who launched an independent rescue mission.

By drawing the terrorists’ fire (one plain-clothes policeman taking a bullet in the process), they enabled numerous trapped shoppers to escape — some from the supermarket’s loading bay, others from their hiding places behind various counters, such as the little girl memorably caught in Tomasevic’s photos making her way to Haji as he covered her with his puny handgun.

Couldn’t happen here? We wish. I’m not so sure that consolation is available to us these days. And that, of course, is what made this documentary so fascinatingly, horribly compelling. It has happened in Mumbai. It has happened in Nairobi. There, but for the grace of God, go we all.

I was in the UK when this was aired and didn’t watch it as I couldn’t see the point. It seems simply to be voyeurism. It also bigs up the risk in people’s minds. I emailed family to let them know I wasn’t there (I am often in Nairobi and often at Westgate). They wondered why I go to ‘crazy countries’. I pointed out that our mother was bombed by the Germans, and those same Germans caused my father to be exposed to danger in Sicily and Italy, far far from his Geordie home. Perspective is needed. And as for ‘could it happen here’? Well, it did, sort of, on 7/7. The risk is minimal. You’re more likely to be run over by a London bus, and I don’t see them being banned any time soon.

    • Kennybhoy

      “Perspective is needed.”

      Amen.

  • Sean L

Yeah I’ve be been in the Westgate in Westlands many times, most recently February – well, outside it because it hadn’t yet reopened then. There was no structural damage so it didn’t look any different from the outside. The Sarit Centre round the corner was doing a roaring trade. It’s said the Westgate was targeted in particular because it’s developer was Jewish. Otherwise what you notice in Nairobi shopping centres as a matter of course are the heavily armed security guards. But their necessary function is to deter robbers and thieves. I wouldn’t envisage them putting up much of a struggle against seriously armed attackers. After all, they probably earn about £60 a month if that. They’re not going to risk their lives. Ditto Kenyan police, who won’t be on much more. I generally feel pretty safe walking alone in Nairobi during the day because you know that wherever there are people you’re unlikely to be attacked: there’s safety in numbers, particularly in Africa where anyone caught robbing in public can meet with instant justice: I once witnessed a man being savagely beaten on the street, also in Westlands. Apparently he’d attempted to steal a motorbike and someone had shouted “Thief”! and that was it. But at night you have to be extremely careful. As Paul Theroux put it in his Dark Star Safari, which includes a stop in Nairobi, ” Predators come out at night in Africa”.

Of course a false flag operation at a British mall could happen. All one has to do is add water to the red powder to create a great blood stain. But remember, use a hair dryer to dry the water soaked garment before you take pictures, as wasn’t done in the case of the following picture from the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya…

    http://www.jimstonefreelance.com/kenyamallfake.jpg

This staged picture of blood on the ground could have used more water to make the blood look real…

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=G7MvE67fDdaWqM&tbnid=VsjyngTsLLONCM:&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fworldblogofblogs.blogspot.com%2F2013%2F09%2Fblog-of-blogs-blog-of-blogs-24092013_6003.html&ei=RxkxVOe0A9LhsASL5IDQBg&bvm=bv.76802529,d.cWc&psig=AFQjCNFyLmjWLMW81MLvoV5UVkr18EzoWA&ust=1412589566286854

Also, the next time MI5 stages a flag event please don’t forget to place the pools of blood on the ground before pictures are taken, unlike the May 2013 Woolwich, London false flag operation where the pools of blood on the sidewalk turned up in pictures AFTER the armed police arrived. Oops!

That’s an odd sentiment for speaking the [photographic] truth. You must be an MI5 troll throwing a fit. Did I upset MI5’s next false flag operation, by chance?

        Think you’ll find it’s burn.

Oh, dear, it’s Dean “The Russkies are coming”, “The pope is a green lizard in disguise” Jackson again. Yanks – what can you do with them?

      • “Oh, dear, it’s Dean”

Yes, the Irish foil who will save the West!

‘”The Russkies are coming”, “The pope is a green lizard in disguise” Jackson again. Yanks – what can you do with them?’

Correction: the Pope is a Marxist, since (1) the Vatican was co-opted by Marxists over 100 years ago; and (2) the Vatican neglected to reveal to the world that the collapse of the USSR (and East Bloc nations) was a strategic ruse.

        Reply:

I see you’re keeping an eye on me, Comrade! Well, my current position is too preoccupied with seeing the downfall of the USSR and Communist China to have a wife and family, which is the only reason to have a girlfriend.

      • Kennybhoy

        ROTFLMFAO!

    • Tox66

You struggle with reality don’t you?

      • “You struggle with reality don’t you?”

Yes, I struggle with the reality of dealing with inane questions from Marxist shills like you, and others who are just too stupid to know what reality is even when they’re looking at it in a photograph!

        • Tox66

Well don’t answer them dear boy, really, don’t. However, to describe me as either a marxist or a shill for anybody is wrong. Wrong in the sense of not being based in reality and so I suppose, by roundabout means, you did cofirm my suspicions.

          • “I suppose, by roundabout means, you did cofirm my suspicions.”

            And mine of yours.

    • Kennybhoy

Och piss off back to whatever conspiracy site you escaped from ya’ loon!

  • Mike

Of course it could happen in the UK and its NOT a matter of IF but WHEN !

Whilst Cameron & May pontificate about the religion of peace and are denying the truth that Islam inspires, promotes and encourages all manner of barbaric atrocities, it will definitely happen sooner or later.

When it does they’ll be one almighty back lash against the Muslim communities and LibLabCon will have been the architects of rivers of blood on both sides unless they change their dumb and stupid approach towards Islam.

It is the religion of evil as its teachings brainwash infants from a very young age to develop into gang rapists, terrorists, Jihadists and be-headers, what more evidence is needed to see the real truth !

    • Damaris Tighe

Not so sure about the backlash Mike. We’ve had 7/7, Woolwich, Rotherham & Alan Henning. The great British public lays flowers, lights candles, then sighs & gets on with life …

      • AJH1968

What do they call it again …ah yes, a day of rage. Perhaps we need one of those, at least it would mean our society had a pulse or some form of masculinity.

        • Damaris Tighe

Yes, exactly. No pogroms, but a demo would send a signal.

          • AJH1968

A disciplined million man march would send the right message.

          • Kennybhoy

            Aye. Well said.

          • Kennybhoy

            Aye.

        • Liz

It’s masculinity that is the problem. It’s uber patriarchal Islam that creates the violence and it’s the weak self-serving masculinity of Britain that lets it flourish.

What we need is femininity. All the greatest leaders of Britain have been women, they’re the only ones with the ovaries in this culture.

          • AJH1968

Nothing wrong with a march against medievel misogyny by a million feminists.

          • Kennybhoy

You really are a single issue obsessive ya’ misandric loon…

          • Mike

Dare I say it, feminism in the UK has emasculated British males where most will not fight back against terror groups.

          • WimsThePhoenix

Yes, what a shame they do eff-all about the oppressed muslim women, their “sisters.”

          • Phil T Tipp

            B*llocks.

      • Kennybhoy

Aye but, setting Rotherham aside, none of these was big enough nor frequent enough to reach a societal tipping point. No’ aw that different in scale from what we and other western societies have endured from terrorists since the 1960s.

        • Damaris Tighe

I think there’s a difference from previous attacks. All the atrocities I listed were performed by people living amongst us but who were first generation immigrants. It’s human nature to be even more outraged by the behaviour of newcomers who we expect to respect, not attack us.

      • Tox66

Because we know that to act would result in the might of the state and media being used to crush us.

    • David Prentice

      Islam = terror.

      • Kennybhoy

        Rubbish.

        • Mike

100,000 killed in the middle east in the current genocides, whole minority groups being exterminated,10,000 young girls terrorized in gang rape in the UK, global terrorism in more than 20 countries around the world at this very moment, sure, its the religion of peace all right !

        • David Prentice

Not rubbish, actually. Islam means submission. If you don’t bend the knee, their holy book makes it quite clear that you are a legitimate target. If I list all of the terror attacks around the world over the last 10 years, what do you think the common denominator will be?

        • waiting to inhale

yes, Islam = rubbish as well, I agree

    • Backlash is one word Mike. Just to be clear, are you saying that come the revolution, UKIP will produce rivers of liblabcon blood? Will Carswell be putting that on his posters do you think?

      • Caps Lock

Who mentioned UKIP, idiot? This has nothing to do with any political party apart from the fact that Westminster politicians have refused to accept that islam as a whole is a danger to our way of life.

        • Oh, I see. So liblabcon is just this general expression, popularly used in the highways and byways, is that it Caps? Nothing to do with the great kipper about the land, Nigel Farage? Who isn’t a westminster politician for the main reason that he never gets elected, is it six times trying?

I don’t know about islam, but I’m going to miss you guys when the bubble bursts.

      • Mike

I as talking about the general public not politicians.

    • Simon_in_London

“When it does they’ll be one almighty back lash against the Muslim communities”

Nope. There was no anti-Irish backlash with the IRA and there’s been no sign of any anti-Muslim backlash after 9/11, 7/7, IS et al. At most a few Islamists get occasional dirty looks on the street.

      • jjjj

But Muslims claim that they now feel perscuted like the Jews in the 30s? Are they lying? (sarcasm alert).

        • waiting to inhale

          yes

Muslims are delusional liars by nature, and always ALWAYS like to point their fingers

it’s shockingly sick to compare muslims to the persecuted jews, who were integrated in german society etc

it’s far more realistic to compare Muslims to nazis, cause they are the new nazis

          • Kennybhoy

“Muslims are delusional liars by nature…”

            Whereas you are just delusional.

          • Mike

Well, Anjem Choudary is delusional liar as he’ll never answer a straight question with a straight answer.

Like too many Muslims, he’ll respond to a question that asks “Do you condemn the killing of Lee Rigby” by changing the subject to pin the blame elsewhere. Thats the sort of deliberate delusional lying we’re talking about.

          • waiting to inhale

            no I am not

let’s just take the most divisive conflict as an example to see the typical delusional Islamist psyche:

Palestinians have been attacking a nation 100 times stronger than them for nearly 70 years, knowing fully well they will never win. Delusional.

So they start wars, eventually, provoke a strong retaliation in which Palestinians are killed, then they run to the UN whinging and complaining, and showing pictures of bodies and crying children, but they do not stop attacking and launching missiles, no, they continue!!
Eventually Israel agrees to take it easy on them – when they could just carpet bomb them into oblivion fairly quickly – so then suddenly you see Palestinians running around their rubble, and dead bodies partying, grinning and flashing the victory sign, like they won a prize or something.

This is the behaviour of schizophrenic delusional psychopaths, like all of them, they have to completely the wrong way around.

Or how about Muslims coming to western countries and then complaining about the decadence and un-piousness of the west? or how about going nuts about a cartoon, yet shrugging their shoulders at the gruesomely killed in their name? Or how about Muslims demanding special treatment anywhere they are? Or how about calling their murderous death cult the ‘religion of peace’?

No other people on the planet show this much stupidity, dishonesty, savagery and delusional behaviour on a daily basis.

          • Simon_in_London

Of course the Islamists of the ’40s were allied with the Nazis. Himmler was a big fan (Hitler not so much); he gave the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem’s Muslim-Bosniak SS Division a special status equal to that of German SS, above that of the other non-German SS Divisions. Like the Croatian Ustashe, the Muslim SS were mostly used to massacre Serbs and other Orthodox Slavs rather than for actual battles.

          • WimsThePhoenix

Lying to non-muslims (taqiyaa) is practically an Islamic requirement in this state of jihad by breeding and passive support of terrorists.

Don’t forget, a lot of that halal certification money that WE ALL pay when we buy supermarket meat goes to fund terrorism.

        • Damaris Tighe

I suspect that for some (many?) muslims being persecuted means not being allowed to run a parallel, enclosed society. On another thread a muslim told me that there should be no non-muslim teachers or children in muslim schools.

          • Kennybhoy

Many of ours would argue the same on behalf of their particular faith and many Christians object to openly gay teachers…

          • Damaris Tighe

That’s not true surely? Our faith schools are obliged to (& do) take children of other faiths. And have teachers of other faiths & none.

          • Kennybhoy

I wrote that “Many of ours would argue” not that the law would or necessarily should agree.

          • Mike

Using that reasoning, one could equally argue there’s no place for Islam or its followers in a Christian society.

          • Damaris Tighe

I found the comment chilling & told him so.

        • Mike

          Faux persecution indeed.

Left wing apologists need a cause to exist and always latch onto some minority group to get their rocks off. There are many minority group crying false persecution and it’s the perfect excuse for them to try and justify their existence and the minority group wont object as it benefits them through positive discrimination.

In the piscine world, there are cleaner fish that clean off dead tissues off larger fish and complement each other as both benefit from that relationship. It happens in nature a lot where two different species work together for the benefit of each other but not other species.

Its no different with PC lefties attaching themselves to those of the Islamic faith where they both benefit for the relationship but the problem is that everyone else suffers in the process just as we saw in Rotherham.

      • Mike

Different times, different threats as the IRA weren’t religious nut jobs and certainly didn’t believe in suicide to achieve their ends. They knew there were precious few “virgins” in the real world and certainly none in heaven.

Sick joking apart, the IRA usually attempted to warn the authorities about bombs they had put in place and even had a special channel of communication to verify it was them calling. None of this is true with Muslim bombers like 9-11, no warning, a suicide action designed to cause maximum civilian deaths.

As you can see, there’s no similarity in their methods, motives or ideology and the public knows this. Thats why I said if a 9-11 style attack occurred, I’m convinced the UK public will no longer sit back and do nothing after 7-7, Edinburgh, many failed attempts and a host of gang rapes. There’s a lot of frustrated resentment out there that could be released to exact vengeance.

    • Kennybhoy

Try not to sound TOO eager to see all this come to pass, there’s a good chap…

      • Mike

Thats the last thing I want to happen but I’m a realist not a fantasist like LibLabCon.

    • WimsThePhoenix

“Of course it could happen in the UK and its NOT a matter of IF but WHEN !”

Only because we aren’t allowed to carry firearms.

      • Mike

So true, in Illinois (Obamaland) where there are strict gun controls, they have the highest amount of gun related deaths in any state of the union. In Texas where there’s probably 4 guns per person they have the lowest rate of shooting related deaths.

Just maybe, when low lifes know the chances are that you’re armed and more than happy to take them out, they wont attack or break in.

  • waiting to inhale

yes, and I’m afraid they WILL happen, it’s just a matter of time.
You do not let hundreds of thousands of terrorists, and their supporters into your western country, without getting eventually some taste as to why they escaped their countries in the first place.

You might have noticed that it is now our country that exports blood-thirsty terrorist to other countries – I’m sure many of them don’t fancy leaving the UK, and are happy to do a bit of killing, raping suicide bombing and beheading right here, around the corner from their benefits home.

Oh, you mean there have ALREADY been beheadings and mass rapes and suicide bombings here?
What’s with the silly question then?

  • Peter Stroud

Of course it could happen here, so could a Bombay type massacre. However, I am sure we have all sorts of terrorist attacks regularly exercised by our police and special forces. This is independent of the political party in power. So hopefully, casualties would be very much less than in Nairobi, or Bombay.

  • Common Sense ✟ كافر

Having seen the sheer amount of extemist Muslims walking around all our city centre’s indeed it could happen thaks to our open door mass immigration of backward third world extremist muslims. If it did happen, and I pray it never will, – I don’t thnk there will be an Englishman left in the land who would ever vote lib, lab, con again.

  • John Cronin

I have to be careful what I say here, as I don’t want to be prosecuted, but what exactly are we going to do about the three million Moslems in this country? What is the gameplan? If I lived in Rotherham, I’d be looking for weapons.

    • Laguna Beach Fogey

Ban islam. Repatriation. Punitive legislation. End welfare subsidies. Confiscation of mosques, islamic schools, muslim community centres. Deport peacefully as many as you can. Detain and/or disappear those who resist. Detain and/or disappear Muslim leaders and their supporters amongst the local liberal-progressive leftist community. Make a graphic public spectacle of certain individuals, pour encourager les autres. The possibilities are endless. It’s probably going to be necessary to develop a core of fighters and administrators (‘Hard Men’) willing to do much of the dirty work. But then again, national liberation is never pretty, and certainly not for the faint of heart.

      • John Cronin

As I say, I am not publishing under a pseudonym, and I don’t want to lose my job, but every commentator who points out the psychotic nature of Islam and its followers – Melanie Phillips, Douglas Murray, Kevin Myers in Ireland, Breitbart, Trifcovic, Robert Spencer balks at the next obvious question: what are we going to do with these people?
Because of inbreeding, something like 40% of all the retarded multiply disabled kids born in this country are Moslems. Ann Cryer Lab MP oop north pointed this out years ago. The mass rape of working class white girls has been an open secret for decades in Rotherham, Rochdale, Brum, Oxford, High Wycombe, Leeds, Bradford: anywhere where we have been so culturally enriched: the Trojan Horse schools, the massive levels of electoral corruption, intimidation of working class whites left in those areas, Tower Hamlets takeover: the list is endless. This is our future. What are we going to do?

        • Laguna Beach Fogey

You and I both know what is going to happen. It’s only a matter of time.

        • Kennybhoy

“…what are we going to do with these people?”

Why don’t you tell us all what you would do?

          • John Cronin

I know the response I would like to give, but I don’t want to end up sharing a cell with Tommy Robinson. Big Brother IS watching these days, and that aint paranoia. The MugPhersonisation of the police and the blatant politicisation of the CPS under NuLab have resulted in a situation where Muzzies don’t get arrested for raping thousands of adolescent white girls, but you or I WILL get arrested if we protest about it. As someone said recently, Britain must be the only country in the world where they get their 72 underage girls prior to dying.
With regard to the prosecution of Robinson for mortgage fraud, it’s funny how the CPS regard that as a crime if you are an EDL man, but not a Labour minister.
Nick Griffin was bankrupted by legal bills and almost sent to jail for pointing out obvious truths. We are living in a police state.

          • Laguna Beach Fogey

No need to spell it out here and get yourself in trouble. But rest assured, it’s going to kick off, and plans are already being made in the UK, Europe, and the US.

    • Mike

There are many methods, techniques and ‘tools’ one can use for self protection that can get around the laws about weapons, you just need to be innovative. There’s a plethora of innocent household items and materials that can be turned into weapons but by keeping them separate until the time when you need them, you can stay clear of any prosecution attempts.

  • Laguna Beach Fogey

Yes, of course it can. And then what are you going to do? Continue singing pathetic paeans to the glories of Islam, mass third world immigration, ethnic cleansing, and race replacement? At some point, the reaction must begin.

Anjem Choudreich, the uber-fascist ‘spokesperson’ for, he appears to believe, the entire Islamic faith community of the planet, said on HARDTalk, the Beeb’s current affairs program that all non-Muslims were criminals and the crime they had all committed [thirteen hundred million Chinese, eight hundred million Hindus and all the rest of the kuffar filth around the world] was to not believe in Allah. He said this, of course, soon after the 2007 slaughter of fifty or so human beings in atrocities in London.

We’ve been spared mass vigilante-ist punishment by the Righteous Brothers, probably, only because it’s relatively hard here to acquire plastic explosives, mortar shells, MG42s and flame-throwers. Were it otherwise, people in our streets would be just as prone to die in atrocities as are the citizens of Baghdad. Mister Plod, certainly, would be about as much use in our defence as a bunch of fat blokes with cardboard shields and wooden swords, as he’d be busy, on politicians’ instructions, urging victims’ relatives not to give in to the temptation to utter anything harshly islamophobic.

    • John Croston

According to the Koran, Choudrey is right, of course. No disbeliever is innocent. That’s why it’s a nonsense when some Muslim imam is wheeled out after each and every atrocity to say “Islam is against the killing of innocent people.”

      • Damaris Tighe

The question is, who is considered ‘innocent’ in Islam? Liberals will find that there’s a profound difference between their definition of innocence & Islam’s.

      • Dr. Heath

Islam is against the killing of innocent Muslims, not of innocent people, as your post implies. Innocent Muslims are only those people that the speaker – inevitably some incredibly nasty, imbecile apologist for mass murderers – deems to be innocent Muslims.

We must all remember this. Ask any Muslim who is certain that he is one of the select and entitled to one day collect his virgins in Paradise and he [women not being much involved in the process] will explain to you that most other so-called Muslims are shameless infidels or Narms. Narm. Not A Real Muslim. Being a Narm is the same as being a Kaafir. Guilty. An abomination almost as disgusting to Allah as, say, a Jew or a Hindu. And the joy, clearly, of being a Real Muslim is that it means you can appoint yourself as one of Allah’s executioners! Wheeeee! Pass the chainsaw, bruv.

  • John Croston

An attack on a busy railway station or market etc by a large group of Muslims armed with knives ( now a regular occurrence in China) is likely to happen first. Knives are easy to get and easy to conceal. AK47s are not.

And when it happens David Cameron will say it has nothing to do with Islam again.

    • John Court

I hope you are wrong, but unfortunately it is a matter of time. The government should issue CCW permits. In this country it is illegal to carry a weapon of any sort – that might have worked in 1953 but it doesn’t work now.

      • Simon_in_London

It’s also a clear violation of the 1688/9 Bill of Right.

    • Simon_in_London

Ouch, good point. I just hope our Muslim youth are more squeamish than the Uighurs.

  • teepee

Inept as the Kenyan authorities’ response may have been, who honestly believes that our emergency services would be appreciably better?

    • Sean L

There’s no question they’d be a hell of a lot better. There’s really no comparison. What happened there could never happen here as far as the response of the emergency services is concerned, however inept we consider ours to be – and I’m totally with you on that!

      • teepee

Forgive my hyperbole, but I was reminded of the response to the Lee Rigby murder when police stood at the end of the road for what seemed like an eternity doing nothing, yet were able to muster plenty of riot police when a few dozen EDL members met at a pub. One does sometimes wonder who the police consider the greater menace.

        • Sean L

Yes and they routinely protect Muslims inciting murder while arresting EDL people on the slightest pretext. My only point is that that’s about their political priorities rather than ineptitude as such. If the boys who set the police car on fire around the corner from me on Tottenham High Road in 2011 were white they’d have been nicked instantly. As it happened the police were paralysed by political considerations and all hell broke loose. Which isn’t to say the police aren’t also inept in many respects. Only not compared to their Kenyan counterparts who don’t even have an effectively operational communications system among themselves. For example if a policeman asked you to stop in Kenya the reason to comply would be that he might otherwise shoot you. Whereas here we know we’d be traced by our registration numbers if the police didn’t chase us directly. Thus I’ve witnessed traffic cops being ignored as they try to direct traffic at junctions in Nairobi. (No one takes any heed of traffic lights and traffic congestion is far worse than anything you’ll see here, there being no train service whatever.)

          • Simon_in_London

The political bias of the British police since their politicisation under the Blair regime is certainly huge, and Muslims aren’t the only beneficiaries; SWP Marxists & Antifa, student protesters, Environmentalists etc all benefit, while targetted groups are either white-working-class (EDL) or white rural (hunt supporters). But I’m not sure this bias affects response to terrorist attacks.

        • Dr. Heath

No. I don’t think anyone wonders at all about Mister Plod. People might have wondered years back. If newspaper editors and national governments and large numbers of people in positions of authority in the West are afraid of islamism and its supporters and of offending progressive opinion, why would members of the police force feel they need to buck the trend?

What has been the civilised world’s response for many months to the slaughter and ethnic cleansing of non-Sunnis across the Fertile Crescent? Refugee tents and bottled water for the survivors. If the world’s greatest powers behave like milquetoasts, why should cops be any different?

      • Simon_in_London

I’d expect the response to be shaky, but not as bad as Nairobi or Mumbai. Initially it might actually be worse in that there would be not even lightly-armed men at the scene to tripwire the attack at all, so there might be even more deaths in the initial assault. In most countries armed security guards, plain clothes police with concealed guns, and even armed civilians can at least give the terrorists something to worry about. But the eventual response by specialist armed units would be faster and more effective here.

    • “Inept as the Kenyan authorities’ response may have been, who honestly believes that our emergency services would be appreciably better?”

I couldn’t have said it better myself! The May 2013 Woolwich, London MI5 false flag operation was a testament to the agency’s incompetence, where the pools of blood on the sidewalk turned up in pictures AFTER the armed police arrived. Oops!

        “…MI5 false flag operation…”

        God gie me strength…

        • “God gie me strength…”

God has nothing to do with MI5 false flag operation, as the photographic evidence shows.

    • Kennybhoy

      Fair comment.

  • Jackthesmilingblack

I realise UK supermarkets can be something of a ripoff, but shooting one up is a tad over the top.

    • “I realise UK supermarkets can be something of a ripoff, but shooting one up is a tad over the top.”

Don’t be silly. MI5 uses blanks, or acoustic weapons that activate concealed charges, during these false flag events.

      • Damaris Tighe

        Oh for chrissake ..

    • Kennybhoy

      Big. Icy. Rocks. Back. Under.

  • Kennybhoy

I wonder what religion “Somali–Kenyan businessman Abdul Haji” belongs to…?

    • Damaris Tighe

I picked that up too Kennybhoy. Important not to make blanket statements.

      • Kennybhoy

Indeed. Problem is that , blend of all the worst aspects of both cultures that they are, our second and third generation Muslims are way more dangerous than many of their coreligionists overseas.

        • Damaris Tighe

          Indeed.

          • “Indeed.”

How many accounts do you have, Kennybhoy?

          • Damaris Tighe

            ha ha ha ha ha

          • “ha ha ha ha ha”

            Don’t you mean “indeed”!

  • Notice the MI5 officers on the thread! They’re reading from embarrassingly bad scripts.

Read my comments below, and the hilarious replies from the officers in the basement of Thames House doing an abysmal job of pretending they’re blind…

Ummm……did we all imagine 7/7, or Rigby, or Rotherham? The venue is immaterial, it’s already happened.

    • “Ummm……did we all imagine 7/7, or Rigby, or Rotherham?”

The USSR & Allies tasked those false flag operations via their co-opted politicians in Western governments, as you know….

Notice that not one political party in the West demanded verification of the collapse of the USSR, and the media failed to alert your attention to this fact, including the “alternative” media. When determining whether the “former” USSR is complying with arms control treaties, what does the United States do to confirm compliance? Right, the United States sends into the “former” USSR investigative teams to VERIFY compliance, yet when it’s the fate of the West that’s at stake should the collapse of the USSR be a ruse, what does the United States do to confirm the collapse? Nothing!

It gets worse–the West also never (1) de-Communized the Soviet Armed Forces of its Communist Party officer corps, which was 90% officered by Communist Party members; and (2) arrested and detained the 6-million vigilantes that assisted the Soviet Union’s Ministry of the Interior and police control the populations of the larger cities during the period of “Perestroika” (1986-1991)!

The fraudulent “collapse” of the USSR (and East Bloc) couldn’t have been pulled off until both political parties in the United States (and political parties elsewhere in the West) were co-opted by Moscow & Allies, which explains why verification of the “collapse” was never undertaken by the West, such verification being (1) a natural administrative procedure (since the USSR wasn’t occupied by Western military forces); and (2) necessary for the survival of the West. Recall President Reagan’s favorite phrase, “Trust, but verify”.

There can be no collapse of the USSR (or East Bloc nations) without…

      Verification, De-Communization and De-mobilization.

The West never verified the collapse of the USSR because no collapse occurred, since if a real collapse had occurred the West would have verified it, since the survival of the West depends on verification. Conversely, this proves that the political parties of the West were co-opted by Marxists long before the fraudulent collapse of the USSR, since the survival of the West depends on verification.

Tin foil hat at the ready then!

  • WimsThePhoenix

How long has Kenya had independence? How can anyone doubt the existence of national IQ differences.

  • WimsThePhoenix

NB those of you who thing inability to own a gun is a Good Thing, this could not have happened in Texas. The citizenry would have put the bastards down in short order.
